20th Mat 2013
ACFL Div7
We got the better of neighbours St Josephs on a score of 2-5 to 17 points in Streamstown on Saturday. The opening half was rather a one-sided affair with home side having several chances but failing to register a score. However, two goals at the start of the second half helped them to eat into our 12 point half time advantage but they were unable to get any closer than the 6 point winning margin. Team:Darren O'Connell, Dylan Hassett, Eamon Boland, Richie O'Brien, Daniel Boland, Andy McCormack, Padraig Fox, David Malynn, Patrick McCormack, Neil Kelly, Theo Watts, Danny Digan, John Keenan, Paddy Malynn, Barry Fielding Sub used: Brian Clarke.

ACFL Div2
Our first team lost out to Coralstown/Kinnegad on Sunday last in the park on a score of 1-10 to 10 points. This was always going to be a difficult assignment as we fielded without 7/8 of our regulars. The concession of a penalty just before half time didn’t help matters.

Championship
Rosemount 0-8
Milltownpass 1-9
This was always going to be a tough encounter and so it proved at a breezy Hogan Park on Saturday evening. The loss of James Geoghegan to a straight red midway through the first half didn’t make things any easier. Miltownpass led throughout. Despite the numerical disadvantage we turned to play with the wind, just one point in arrears. However a determined and well organised opposition never let us into our stride. That said, we had plenty of chances but took too many wrong options in front of goal. The concession of a goal deep into added time compounded what was a lack lustre performance. To win any game you need to have a better return than two points from the forward line so there is plenty to work on in the coming weeks. A defeat in the first round of the championship is never an ideal start but there are four games left and points to be played for.
Eoin Carberry, Eamon Boland, Enda Boland, Luke Kelly, Shane Tone, Patrick Boland, Darren King, Declan Mullen(0-5), Stephen Darcy, Theo Watts, James Geoghegan(0-1), David Malynn, David Tone(0-1), Paddy McCormack, David McCormack(0-1).
Subs Used: David Mullen, Dylan Hassett, Padraig Fox, Danny Fox.

Festive Feats
Well done to all who took part in the Stephens day Over 40s charity match in Ballymore. Over €3,500 was raised in aid of The Hospice. Rosemount won what was a very entertaining and sometimes funny game. The Man of the Match accolade was disputed between keeper Tom Darcy and David Geoghegan who notched up a staggering 2-1. However the result was ‘questioned’ after the Ballymore keeper was accused of match fixing!! Rumour has it that our minor chairman Marty Healy couldn’t line out as he was deemed to be ‘overage’ He reaches an important milestone on Tue 8th Jan.

Congrats to ex-chairman Mixie Molloy who pulled a Christmas Cracker with an engagement to Josie Gibney of Moyvore. Other lo
cals to raid the diamond mines over the holiday period were Linda Keenan, John Cambell and Gary McCormack. We wish them all good health and happiness for the future.

Rosemount Past and Present
In excess of 200 people attended the launch of “Rosemount Past and Present” by Dr. Patrick Geoghegan, Department of History, Trinity College on Saturday last in Rosemount Community Centre. This is a unique history of Rosemount. It's main author, Fr Jimmy Murray O.Carm .This book presents a broad spectrum of articles on the parish of Rosemount. It examines some of the unique geological features of the landscape and also traits of the people and events that shaped and continue to shape the life of the local community. It adds to our knowledge of the story of the parish and some of the individuals and families who have contributed to that story. Key developments in its history are explored and all that goes to make it the place that it is in 2012. It also brings the reader up to date on the sporting and cultural activities in the area since the publication of the Black & Amber Story. Besides having contemporary relevance, it will make interesting reading for the student of local history and indeed of national interest. A great present for and your friends to read over the Christmas. Book available from Jimmy 0862490038, John 0867252295

Rosemount2020
Following on from the return of our questionnaires we are now putting the finishing touches to our community plan. Our last exercise is to have a forum night to discuss the items the questionnaires threw up and focus in on the more important parts. So Rosemount 2020 together with our excellent Foroige group is holding this on Wed next at 8.30pm in the hall. It won’t yake more than 30 minutes and is a very important part of this entire process.

Community Alert:
It is imperative that all householders be more conscious of the need for security around their house at this time of the year. We ask everyone to keep an eye out and report any strange movements of people or vehicles to the Guards

Seasons Greetings
We at Rosemount Gaa would like to thank all our lotto players for their support in 2012. We wish all our members, supporters and sponsors a very peaceful Christmas and a sucessful 2013.
