ACFL Div3
Rosemount 0-10
Moate 1-10
A lack lustre performance in Hogan Park on Saturday last saw us loose out to Moate in the second game of the league. Moate were all fired up for this encounter and were good value for their half time lead of 1-6 to 3pts. Indeed, they could have been two goals further in front, were it not for the woodwork and a fine stop by keeper, Eoin Carbury inside the first ten minutes. Things improved slightly in the second period and a full compliment of subs was used in an effort to find our best fifteen. The majority of our points came from Danny Fox, and all but one of those from free kicks.
One suspects the management team will have learned much from this performance.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Enda Boland, Richie O’Brien, Peter Keenan, Ronald Mullen, John Keane, Paddy Wade, Declan Keane(0-1), Donal Boland, David Malynn, Danny Fox(0-7), Shane Tone, Cyril Elliffe(-0-1), James Geoghegan(0-1), Danny Fielding, Subs used: Declan Mullen, John Keenan, Cathal Keane, Patrick Boland, Stephen Darcy
Minor League(13-a-side)
Rosemount 1-6
Millmore Gaels 0-4
Our minor team got their season off to a winning start with a well deserved win over Millmore Gaels on Sunday morning last. Despite the low scoring, the management team were happy enough with this performance, given the slushy conditions and the time of year. Training resumes on Wednesday night.
Team & Subs: Alan Mullen, Luke Kelly, Darren King, Liam Hanevy, Eamon Boland, Oisin Daly, David(dude) McCormack(0-2), David(dd)McCormack(0-1), Thomas Duffy, Dylan Hassett(0-1), John McCormack, Ciaran Clarke(1-1),Emmet Heavin(0-1). U 21 Championship semi Final:
Hard luck to our U21 Squad which despite a very spirited performance went down to Mullingar Shamrocks in Tubber on Friday night. We had our share of bad luck with a number close misses in the first 20 minutes at which time we eventually got our first point on the scoreboard. Mullingar Shamrocks who were 1.4 ahead at this stage didn't score again for the next 35 minutes at which stage we had scored 7 points without reply. Unfortunately our lads who put in a terrific effort ran out of steam and Mullingar who scored 3 points in the last 5 minute came out 5 point on top.
Our Club should take great satisfaction from this match which despite defeat showed we have some excellent and very talented young players . These players should make a big impact during the years ahead in regaining Rosemount's position as a major force in Westmeath football:
1st Aid Course:
20 member of our club completed a full days training in 1st Aid on Saturday last in the Community Center. This EFA 1st Aid Course was supported by the Westmeath Sports Partnership and its great to have so many members of our club give up a full day to avail of this training.

U21 Championship
Rosemount 2-8
Bunbrosna 3-7
Our 13-a-side team exited the championship on Friday night last when we met a strong Bunbrosna side at Lakepoint Park. We started well, going three points to one up in the first quarter. We were then rocked by three goals in the space of 7 minutes which left us chasing the game from then on. We battled back and with the help of a David Tone goal we trailed by three at the break (1-4 to 3-1). Bun made better use of the breeze in the second half by scoring some excellent long range points. A missed penalty didn’t help our cause, but three points from David Malynn and a goal from Brian Clarke brought us back on level terms. Bun had a little more in the tank for the final ten minutes and finished with a two point winning margin. Well done to all the lads who contributed handsomely to an excellent game of football in very testing conditions.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Enda Boland, Luke Kelly, Shane Tone, Patrick Boland, John O’Connor, David Malynn(0-4), Declan Mullen, David McCormack(0-1), Cyril Elliffe, Brian Clarke(1-1), David Tone(1-0)JamesGeoghegan(0-2). Subs used: Eamon Boland for J.O’Connor, Thomas Duffy for B.Clarke.
30-Nov-2009
U21 Championship
Rosemount 2-7
The Downs 0-4
Rosemount’s 13-a-side team won the battle of the black and ambers on Sunday morning last in The Downs. Two goals in the opening half from Declan Mullen and David Tone gave us a sizeable lead at the break. The expected recovery from the home side never materialised as they could only manage a point in the second half.
We now meet Bunbrosna in the semi-final on Friday night in Lakepoint park at 8pm.
Leinster Finals
Best of luck to Tubberclair and Garrycastle in their respective finals at the weekend.

22-Nov-2009
U21 Championship
Rosemount 1-13
St Malachy’s/ Ballinagore/Loughnavally 2-5
Our U21s have made it through to the next round of the championship with a hard fought win in Ballinagore on Sunday last. The home side were somewhat under strength, which is ironic in itself given the combination. Their cause wasn’t helped with the loss of both midfielders during the course of the game, for which they had no replacements. We made full use of a very strong breeze in the opening half and led 1-8 to 4pts at the break. After the break we had to carry against the breeze, but paid the price for some over elaborate passing by conceding two goals. Sheer weight of numbers and some hard slogging carried us over the finish line with 5 points to spare. Despite the atrocious conditions we played some very good football, with some excellent long range points from David Tone, Declan Mullen and James Geoghegan.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Eamon Boland, Liam McCormack, Luke Kelly, John O’Connor, Patrick Boland, Shane Tone(0-1), David Malynn(0-2), Declan Mullen(0-3), Brian Clarke(0-1), Cyril Elliffe, David Tone(1-3), David McCormack, Gerard Carroll, James Geoghegan(0-2). Subs used: Oisin Daly for G.Carroll, Thomas Duffy(0-1) for O. Daly.

09-Nov-2009
U21 13-a-side Championship
Rosemount 1-9
Ballymore 0-7
8th Nov is an odd time to be starting a championship but so it was for our U21s on Sunday last. We played the 2nd round of the 2009 championship away to Ballymore having got a bye from Miltownpass in round one. With David Malynn in superb form we held the edge at midfield from the start. A superbly taken, premiership style goal from Patrick Boland gave us a cushion we needed and we managed to hold it to the end. We took the foot off the pedal for a ten minutes at the beginning of the second half when Ballymore dragged themselves 3 points closer. But when they lost their corner forward with a second yellow card we took control again and stepped it up for the remainder of the game.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Enda Boland, Luke Kelly, John O’Connor, Patrick Boland(1-0), Shan Tone, Declan Mullen(0-1), David Malynn(0-5), David McCormack, Cyril Elliffe(0-1), David Tone(0-1), James Geoghegan, Alan McManus. Subs used: Liam McCormack for E. Boland(inj), Eamon Boland(0-1)for A. McManus, Thomas Duffy for D.Tone.
07-Nov-2009
Div3 U16 Final
Rosemount 1-09
Ballynacargy 2-18
As the result suggests, we were pitted against a very strong Ballynacargy team in this U16 final, played in bitterly cold conditions in Lakepoint Park on Wednesday night last. ‘Bal’ had been unlucky to have made the drop from the 15-a-side div2 for the championship and consequently had little trouble in any of their matches. However our lads put this out of their minds and put in a tremendous performance throughout. With the aid of a strong wind and some stout defending we managed to lead at the break 1-4 to 6pts. Unfortunately the flood gates began to open on the restart and ‘Bal’ picked off 2 goals and several unanswered points. The game was now over as a contest but to their credit the lads never gave up and responded with 3 or 4 points in the final ten minutes. It was a night when we needed everything to go right for us to have a chance of winning but alas it wasn’t to be. However, all the lads gave it everything on the night. The subs made an immediate impact when introduced and we had some excellent performances from many players like Andrew, Niall and Darren in defence, Ciaran and Danny up front with David making some telling contributions at midfield. The club would like to thank the U16 panel and their mentors Eugene and Michael for their commitment during the past year.
Team: Alan Mullen, Andrew McCormack, Theo Watts, Niall Moran, Liam Hanevy, Darren King, David McCormack(0-4), TJ. Fox, Ciaran Clarke(0-1), Dylan Hassett, Danny Digan(0-3), Peter Elliffe, Darren Keenan. Subs Padraig Fox, Neil Kelly, Mike McLoughlin.
Div2 Minor Semi Final
Rosemount 2-08
St Malachy’s/Ballinagore 1-12
This game was played in cold and wet conditions on a waterlogged pitch in Ballinagore on Saturday last. It was a cracking game of football from the off with never more than a couple of points between the sides at any stage. A goal and a point from corner forward Kevin Connell and a James Geoghegan point left us just a point in arrears at the break. Our lads played all the football in the second period, surging forward time after time. An excellent goal from James Geoghegan, having chased a long ball and chipped the keeper from 20 yards, was the pick of some excellent scores in the second half. A point ahead with three minutes remaining, it looked as though we would hold out. When we conceded an equaliser on full time we thought surely extra time was on the cards, but there was still time for the home side pick off the final point of the day. Many in attendance came away feeling the better team had lost this one. Indeed it was difficult to see how we ended up on the loosing side having played so well throughout. Great credit must go to both teams on putting up such excellent fare in such conditions. Again the club would like to thank this minor panel, together with mentors Tom, Mike and Pat for all their hard work and commitment in 2009.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Eamon Boland, Liam McCormack, Darren King, Oisin Daly Luke Kelly, Emmet Heavin(0-1) David (dude) McCormack(0-1), Enda Boland(0-1), John McCormack(0-1), David(dd)McCormack, Thomas Duffy(0-1), Kevin Connell(1-1), James Geoghegan(1-1), Brian Clarke(0-1). Subs Liam Hanevy, Alan Mullen, Ciaran Clarke, Danny Digan, Dylan Hassett
The U8s and U10s enjoyed an excellent day out in Imaginosity on Sat last.

Minor Championship
Rosemount 3-08
Castledaly 0-10
Well done to the minor team and their mentors on a fine win over Castledaly on Friday night last. Given that the sides finished level on two previous meetings this year, a much closer game was expected. But the lads were determined to go one better on this occasion. A goal in the early stages gave them the break they needed and another just on the restart put them in the driving seat. They now meet the winners of St Malachy’s/ Ballinagore for a place in the semi final.
U16 Championship(13-a-side)
Rosemount 2-10
Delvin 1-05
Our u16s had a second round meeting with Delvin in the park on Saturday last where they recorded an eight point victory. Delvin had taken the points in an earlier meeting this year, so this was a magnificent turn around. The lads gave it everything for the full hour. They conceded a goal early on but didn’t panic. Despite playing against the wind in the opening half they were on level terms at the break. 1-2 to 5pts. They pushed on from there and with the help of goals from Danny Digan and Darren Keenan they recorded a well deserved eight point victory. This win puts them in the semi final. Team: Allen Mullen, Andy McCormack(0-2), Theo Watts, Niall Moran, Liam Hanevy, Darren King, TJ Fox, David McCormack(0-4), Ciaran Clarke(0-1), Dylan Hassett, Danny Digan(1-2), Peter Elliffe, Darren Keenan(1-0). Subs: Padraig Fox for D. Digan, Neil Kelly(0-1) for D. Keenan, John Dolan.
U14 Championship

Minor Championship
Rosemount 0-7
Castledaly 0-7
We played Castledaly in the first round of the championship on Friday last in the park. A David McCormack point from a free in the dying moments sent this game to a replay. The visitors held a well deserved 3 point lead at the break as we struggled to make an impact against the breeze. In the second period we came more into it, defending well and delivering better ball to the forwards. This is the second game between the sides which has finished deadlocked this year. The replay will be in Castledaly(TBC). A game well worth travelling to.
Team: Liam Hanevy, Thomas Duffy, Liam McCormack, Luke Kelly, John McCormack, Enda Boland, Eamon Boland, James Geoghegan, David McCormack(0-3), Kevin O’ Connell, Emmet Heavin(0-1), Ciaran Clarke(-0-1)David McCormack, Oisin Daly, Brian Clarke(0-2). Subs: Sean Watts for K. O’Connell. Niall Boland, Danny Digan, Dylan Hassett, Alan Mullen, Darren King.
Our U16s received a walk over on Saturday having travelled to Milltownpass, as the home side couldn’t field a team.

Intermediate Championship:
We had our first Intermediate Championship win yesterday following a great performance against Shandonagh. Great credit must go to the full squad from Eoin in goals who has some brilliant saves down to David in the corner who made no mistake hitting the net twice. This was our best performance of the championship with everyone giving their all right to the end. Good work down the field paid off with 2 goals in a 2 minute period leaving us ahead by 8 points at the break. Despite a gallant comeback from Shandonagh we finished with a final score 2.11 to 0.11 . Our last game is a local Derby via Ballymore in 2 weeks time.

Intermediate Championship
Rosemount 0-11
Ballinagore 1-09
A near flawless performance by Enda Boland couldn’t prevent us going down by, yet another one point margin, this time to Ballinagore. The lights had to be switched on at Pairc Ciaran last Saturday night in order to complete this entertaining fixture. Two points up at the break, (6 to 4) and playing well, most people expected more of the same to come. However, Ballinagore had other ideas and within 2 minutes of the restart they were a point up, thanks to a well taken penalty. We had competed well in most areas in the first period, especially at midfield, but in the second we laboured somewhat, and found the scores hard to come by. We are now in need of full points from our remaining matches and we need to start winning by narrow margins instead. What a difference just two more points in each game would have done over the past two years!
Team: Eoin Carberry, Enda Boland, Declan Keane, John Keane, Ronald Mullen, Declan Mullen, Patrick Boland, Stephen Darcy, Donal Boland, James Geoghegan, Paddy Malynn(0-1), David Malynn(0-1), David Tone(0-3), Shane Tone(0-1), Johnny Keenan(0-3). Subs: Danny Fielding(0-2) for J. Keenan, James Boland for S. Darcy, John Kelly for R. Mullen

Intermediate Championship
Club championship action resumes this weekend in the wake of Westmeath’s exit from the qualifiers. We are pitted against Ballinagore in the second of a double header in Athlone, throw-in 7:45. This promises to be another close encounter given that we lost to them by a single point when the sides met in earlier in the league. We have to pull out all the stops here to help avoid relegation play-offs later. On the positive side, a win in our remaining matches could leave us in a healthy situation, so this game will be a defining one for us.
Minor League
Our minors picked up another two points last week at the expense of Killucan and are going very well in the league. One defeat in six games leaves us in third position on the table. Had we got full points from two drawn games against The Downs and Castledaly, we could be sharing top spot. This is a very balanced squad with a number of them doing very well for us on the intermediate team.

Underage
Our U16s recorded a close victory over Castledaly last Thurs on a score line of 3-8 to 3-7. Winning by eleven points midway through the second half, the opposition were allowed back into the game in the final minutes. The final whistle came just in time.
The U8s & U10s continue to play a series of matches, where each club field two or more,10-a-side teams, with the emphasis on fun & participation. Everyone’s a winner.
Congrats
Well done to Mairead Fox and Kayleigh Wade on their match winning performances at the half time mini games in Croke Park last Sunday. It was a pity our senior team couldn’t match their achievements.
Intermediate
In the absence of league games, our intermediate team were busy playing a series challenge games versus Tang, Caulry, Ballinacargy. Hopefully they will pay off in the remaining championship fixtures.

INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Rosemount 1-07
C/F/C/W 0-11
We seem to have picked up where we left off last year, with another one point defeat at the hands of C/F/C/W on Sunday last at Cusack park. Having to field without some key players due to injury, we played second fiddle for most of this game, the only bright periods being the first ten minutes and twenty minutes of the second half. Even so, it was a game that we could have won, had we kept up the momentum early on. Instead we went in at the break five points behind and left ourselves too much ground to make up. A well taken goal by David Tone midway through the second half brought us to within two points but we were not playing well enough to capitalise. We could have stolen the points in the closing minutes, had Shane Tone’s flick gone under instead of over the crossbar. The one positive from the game was the contributions of James, Enda and Danny when introduced.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Paddy Wade, Declan Keane, John Kelly, Ronald Mullen(0-1), Patrick Keenan, David Malynn, Paddy Malynn, Stephen Darcy, Declan Mullen, Donal Boland, Cyril Elliffe, David Tone(1-0), John Keenan(0-4), Shane Tone(0-1). Subs used : James Geoghegan for D. Boland, Enda Boland(0-1) for Paddy Malynn, Danny Fox for S. Tone, S Tone for J. Keenan.

ROSEMOUNT TAKE HOME THE CUP
Rosemount 2-05
Gael Scoil Muillin 2-04
Well done to the girls from Rosemount N.S. on a hard fought and well deserved victory over Gael Scoil, Muillin, in the final of Comortas na mBun Scoil.
Two well taken goals by the two Emma’s gave them some breathing space in the early stages, but Mullingar fought their way back to leave the sides all square at the break, 2-2 apiece. In the second half the girls really ‘Emptied the Tank’, in some cases, literally, to give an outstanding display of courage and commitment. They outscored Mullingar by 3 points to 2 in the second period. With the clock showing time up, a dubious free was awarded against them. The crowd were on their feet. With nerves frayed and hearts in mouths, they prayed. Prayers were answered. The free was kicked wide and justice was done. They held out for a well deserved one point win. The party continues. Well done Mick Scally, Michael Kelly, Collette McCormack and Nuala Mullen for all their work with this group of girls.
Team: Ciara O’Neill, Sandra Nestor, Niamh Geoghegan(capt), Sarah McCormack, Nicola Mullen, Michelle King(0-1), Mairead Fox(0-1), Rosemary McLoughlin(0-1), Emma McCormack(1-1), Emma Collins(1-1). Subs used: Therese Reilly for E.Collins

ACFL Div 3
Rosemount 1-14
St Mary’s 0-11
Our division 3 team picked up another 2 points at the expense of St Mary’s on Friday evening last in Rosemount. The visitors seemed to be well short of match fitness compared to the home side. Although we did maintain a lead throughout we never really managed to pull away. A David Tone penalty midway through the second half did put some daylight between the sides and the same player was unlucky not to pick up another one as he was about to kick into an empty net when the final whistle blew.
Team: Eoin Carberry, John Kelly, Declan Keane, Paddy Wade, Ronald Mullen, Paddy Keenan, David Malynn (0-1), Stephen Darcy, Paddy Malynn(0-1), Shane Tone(0-1), Donal Boland(0-1), Cyril Elliffe, David Tone(1-4), Declan Mullen, John Keenan(0-6). Subs: Danny Fox for Paddy Malynn
COMORTAS NA MBUN SCOIL FINAL
The girls from Rosemount national school are competing in the Comortas Na mBun Scoil final on Wednesday 20th May. The opposition is Gael Scoil, Mullingar, a team which they played earlier in the year. There was little or nothing between the sides on that occasion so a cracking final is on the cards. A win could depend on the vocal support from the parish, so we encourage everyone to get to Cusack Park on 20th May. We wish the girls the best of luck in the final where we know they will be giving it their all.
LA NA GCLUB
A very enjoyable day was had by all at La na gClub, Sun 10th May 2009, marking 125th anniversary of the founding of the GAA. The day started with mass at 2pm in the Park for deceased members, followed by some “friendly” games with all age groups taking part. The senior players took on the “more senior” players in a very entertaining game. However it did turn “nasty” toward the finish with celebrity referee Assumpta, brandishing a number of red cards. The C.C.C.C.C.C. will be viewing some video evidence to determine what action will be taken, the outcome of which is not expected before the 150th anniversary. Hot & Spicy Bar-B-Que was supplied by the club and cooked by “The Naked Chefs”. Congratulations to all who contributed to making this a very enjoyable day for the members and supporters of the club.

Ballinagore 2-07
We suffered our first defeat of the league on Saturday last in Ballinagore. The home side were the dominant side throughout with a power packed performance. Hopefully we will have learned something from this game and use it to our advantage on Saturday next in Athlone, where we take on Tubberclair in the first round of the Championship.
UNDERAGE COACHING
Well done to our Manager Gary Daly and the Intermediate squad who put on a very enjoyable coaching session on Sunday for all the underage players in the club. It was great to see in the region of 100 people togged out in the Rosemount jersey where individual members of our Adult teams provided coaching to all our underage players.
The Bar B Cue supplied by Garry and prepared by Pete, Ger and Marty was an extra where in excess of 300 “Burgers” +lots more were enjoyed by all present . Well done to all concerned with this very successful event.

We had a convincing victory over CF/CW in the Div3 league game in Rosemount on Saturday. Despite the viMoatsitors having a depleted squad the game was level 1.3 each at half time. Rosemount opened the second half in firing form and with some excellent movements ended up with scoreline 4.12 to 1.4.
While we still have some work to do prior to our first Championship outing on Saturday week against Tubberclair our mentors will be quiet pleased with the work rate of our squad to date.

COMORTAS NA MBUN SCOIL
Rosemount 1-05
Multyfarnham 0-05
Well done to the girls of Rosemount NS on making it to the final of the above competition. They overcame the challenge of Multyfarnham in Springfield on Tuesday last. Our girls were 1-4 to no score at the break with the aid of a gale force wind. Having kicked a succession of wides one wondered if we were enough in front before facing the gale. Multy came storming back in the second half and scored 5 unanswered points to leave just two points between the sides. We forced our way back up field and picked off another point. This was as equally nail-biting as the grand slam win over Wales. Credit for this victory must go to some brilliant defending, especially in the second half. Team: Ciara O’Neill, Sarah McCormack, Niamh Geoghegan, Sandra Nestor, Michelle King,(0-2) Mairead Fox, Nicola Mullen, Rosemary McLoughlin(1-2), Emma McCormack(0-1), Emma Collins
MINOR LEAGUE
Rosemount 0-14
The Downs 2-08
We came away with a share of the spoils from this minor league game in The Downs on Sunday last. This was a very entertaining game, played a very fast pace, with never more that a couple of points separating the sides for most of the game. We went in at the break on level terms, 5pts apiece, having spurned a goal chance and playing against a stiff breeze. We started the second half brightly and were three points to the good, when they were awarded a penalty, which they duly converted. Again we were two points in front when they took advantage of some loose marking in front of goal, leaving our keeper with no chance. But our lads never gave up and fought back gamely to force a draw.
Team: Liam Hanevy, Sean Watts, Liam McCormack, Thomas Duffy, Eamon Boland, Enda Boland(0-2), Luke Kelly, James Geoghegan(0-2), David McCormack, Brian Clarke, David McCormack(0-2), John McCormack, Oisin Daly(0-2), Emmet Heavin(0-1), Eoin Carberry (0-4) Subs: Niall Boland(0-1) for John McCormack

DEVELOPMENT WORK
Development work with the upgrading of our facilities continues tomorrow. We are hopeful that we will continue with lots of voluntary workers to put the final touches on our “Ball Stoppers and complete the uprights for improved lighting”(see "updated photo album" which illustrates the great work taking place where and you will also recognoise the many faces who are part of same)
17-03-2008
We wish all our readers a very happy St Patricks Day wherever you are don't forget the "Shamrock"
UPGRADING OF CLUB FACILITIES
Great credit is due to the many voluntary workers who gave their time during the past couple of weeks carrying out improvements at our facility. We had in excess of 10 people working a full day last Saturday where Teleporter and Mini digger was also supplied at no cost to the club. This work entailed erecting Ball Stoppers and improving the lighting, where all concerned are to be commended.
New ball Stoppers for both playing and Training pitches should be completed during the next few weeks (We are at it again next Saturday and request All helpers available to give their support where hopefully we will put a fair dent in this part of our development)
We installed Astro Turf in both Goalmouths during the past couple of weeks and it had turned out to be a great success
Plans to provide “Dug outs” and Scoreboard (which were approved for Lotto Funding) are presently under review and should be completed during the next few months as well.

Moate 2-01
We had a narrow one point win over neighbours Moate on Sat last. The game was played under very testing conditions in Moate, on a pitch bordering on unplayable due to incessant rain. We controlled the game for the first ten minutes, going three points up before Moate pegged us back with a very fortunate goal. We pushed on again and were 7 points to 1-1 up when we were caught yet again with a flick to the net by Lar Gillivan. We managed to tag on another point and from there managed to hold out for a well deserved win. To the fore for Rosemount were Stephen Darcy and Paddy Malynn in defence, Declan Keane at midfield and Donal Boland up front.

Great to see Garry and the lads getting a good turnout at training during the week.
BIG APPLE
While we will miss Anthony Kelly on the playing field where he always gave his best we wish him well in his (short we hope) trip to the Big Apple. I am sure himself and his many colleagues including Rambo will have a lot of ground to catch up on. Maybe Anthony will would keep us up to date on the many activities involving members of our Community in New York where we would be delighted to include it on the Rosemount Web site. He might even encourage a few of them to buy our lotto on line!

INTERMEDIATE CUP 2008 SEMI-FINAL
Rosemount 1-09
Maryland 2-08
Maryland advanced to the final of the 2008 intermediate cup by virtue of a two point win in Drumraney on Sunday last. Rosemount got off to good start and were two points up within eight minutes, before Maryland pulled a goal back. We dominated the remainder of the half and were five points ahead at the break, 1-7 to 1-2 thanks to a deft flick to the net from David Mullen. Maryland started the second period much stronger and were just a point in arrears with ten minutes remaining. Then they got their second goal from a rebound off the crossbar. The difference between the teams was that they scored 1-6 in the second half while we only managed a point from play and one from a free kick. Even though the manager seemed reasonably pleased with the performance, he has plenty to work on before the 2009 season kicks off.
Team: Paddy Keenan, Ronald Mullen, Paddy Malynn, Cyril Elliffe, Richie O’Brien, Syephen Darcy, Paddy Wade, David Malynn, Declan Keane, Danny Fielding, Declan Mullen(0-1), David Tone,(0-1) Barry Fielding(0-1), David Mullen(1-0), Johnny Keenan (0-6). Subs used: Patrick Boland for R. O’Brien
