Condolences
Rosemount GAA are shocked and saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Declan Keane. Declan has been a playing and coaching member of Rosemount since his earliest years, and his loss will be felt deeply throughout our club and community. Declan represented Westmeath with distinction, being part of the Westmeath Minor panel in 1992 and the U21 panel in 1995—both of which reached Leinster Finals.
Throughout his playing career with Rosemount, Declan lined out in Senior, Intermediate, and Junior finals, giving everything to the black and amber jersey. He was an integral member of the Junior team in 2007, lining out at midfield in the county final and helping the club regain Intermediate status. He also proudly represented Rosemount in the Leinster Junior Final that same year. Declan’s footballing achievements extended beyond the club as he also won an All-Ireland title with Multyfarnham College—an honour he carried with great pride.
Declan retired from playing football in 2011 at the age of 37. Retirement only strengthened his commitment to coaching. He coached the U16 and Minor Boys and became a driving force within Cill Óige LGFA, coaching at many age levels. Declan spent two years coaching the Cill Óige U14s, helping to guide them to a Division 2 title in his very first year—an achievement he was incredibly proud of.
Declan never missed a Rosemount game at any level. Following in his father Joe’s footsteps – whether as a coach on the sideline, encouraging younger players, or simply supporting from the stand, Declan’s passion for Rosemount football was evident in everything he did.
Away from football, Declan had a lifelong passion for farming. It was not just his work but a vocation—one that shaped him deeply and brought him great contentment. His connection to the land reflected the same dedication, patience, and pride he brought to coaching, to playing, and to every aspect of his life. Farming grounded him, fulfilled him, and was an integral part of who he was.
Above all, Declan’s world revolved around his beloved wife Anita and their daughters Sarah, Orla, Niamh, and Denise. They were his greatest joy, his proudest achievement, and the centre of everything he did.
Declan’s dedication, warmth, and unwavering commitment made him a valued member of our GAA community. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his wife Anita, daughters, Sarah, Orla, Niamh & Denise, his parents Joe & Mary, his siblings, Paul, Colum and Máiréad, the extended Keane family and his wide circle of friends at this very difficult time.

Well done to the Cill Óige Minor team on their semi final victory in Milltown on Friday evening.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half in the cool, breezy conditions. Two well taken goals helped Cill Óige to a 4 point lead at the break on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-9.
Millmore started the second half brightly but the Cill Óige lads worked hard and showed great composure to secure the win.

U14 Div 4 Championship Quarter Final
Well done to the Cill Óige U14 squad on their quarter final victory against a skillfull Downs team in Castledaly on Wednesday evening.
Cill Óige played with a strong breeze on their backs in the first half and created some clever chances against a skilled opposition while defending resolutely.
Thanks to some powerful support play and sharp shooting in the forward lines Cill Oige built up a commanding lead as they reached the half time break (3-08 to 1-0).
Cill Óige maintained their upbeat high tempo pressure on the visitors as the second half progressed and the management and supporters were treated to a wide variety of scorers helping to extend their advantage, leading to a final score of 7-14 to 2-03.
Well done to all the squad and coaches.
Cill Óige now progress to the semi final against Tyrellspass in a couple of weeks.

The Rosemount U8 and U10 footballers put in a fantastic display at today’s blitz. From the very first whistle, the lads showed great energy, teamwork, and skill. They worked tirelessly for each other, moving the ball well and taking some excellent scores.
There was great determination and sportsmanship shown by every player in black and amber. Whether it was tackling back, supporting a teammate, or celebrating a score, the boys gave it everything and made the club very proud.
A big word of thanks goes to the young referees (Maria, Lilly, Michael and Tadhg) who officiated today. They did a brilliant job in keeping the games flowing fairly and ensuring everyone enjoyed themselves.
Thanks to all the players, coaches, mentors and supporters from Rosemount and the visiting teams. It was a great day of football and another positive step forward for this talented group of Rosemount players

South Westmeath Advanced Football Camp
28th & 29th October Expression Of Interest
Westmeath GAA have identified an exciting opportunity to engage teenage boy’s (ages 13–16) from clubs in the south of the county that currently do not have a PO in place.
They are proposing a two-day advanced Football camp, completely free of charge to out club, during the midterm break:
– Dates: Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th October
– Time: 10:00 am – 1:30 pm each day
– Venue: TBC
The camp will focus on player development, skill progression, and engagement for boys in this age group, with particular attention to clubs that would benefit from additional support. Coaching will be delivered by Robbie Forde, Ciarán Martin and Alan Mullen and they are hoping to include guest appearances from County players to inspire and engage the participants. On behalf of the Lawlor and Treanor families, there is a walk in mullingar at 7pm on Tuesday starting from Buckley’s SuperValu in remembrance of Sinead. Some family members are away with the walk being done in Vietnam, Greece, Madeira, Germany and Mallorca so hopefully we can add Rosemount to the list as there is no expectation on people to travel to Mullingar but they are most welcome if they want to. All funds are for the Irish Cancer Society. They’re incredible people providing incredible support to anyone who has been unfortunate enough to experience the great work these people do first hand. Division 2 League Round 9.
Our lads played their final division 2 league game in terrible conditions on Thursday evening in Rosemount. Goals from Boidu, Lorcan Daly and Ben Cox secured an emphatic win over our neighbours Ballymore. The win secured a mid table finish in the league. We now luck forward to the first round of the league against Tubberclare in a months time. Final score; Rosemount 3.23 St Ballymore 0-7.

Darragh, Alex Adamson Mullen and Michael Loddick were also a part of the U16 Ted Webb Cup team that beat Dublin last weekend. Graham Slevin also played centre back for the Westmeath U14s against Laois & Cork last weekend.

Deccy Mullen added to his 2 points tally from the previous round with 2 more two pointers throughout the game. Div 2 & 4 Football
Well done to the Division 2 team last weekend who came out on top against Mullingar Shamrocks in the first league match of the year. The new rules were on show for the first time in club football and Deccy Mullen took advantage with two pointers throughout the game. Goals from Boidu and Matty Cox helped us to a win with the final score being Rosemount 2.13 Mullingar Shamrocks 1.10.
Our Division 4 team took on Ballinagore on Sunday morning, with a strong Ballinagore team coming out with the win.
A positive weekend of football in general, with a large number of lads playing at adult level for the first time.

2025 Development
The next step as a part of our 2025 development will be the installation of the new male & female toilets & referees room. Installation will start on the 20th of Feb. Those using the gym and walking track please adhere to signage and fencing that is in place. The shop and rework to the bike shed is well on track and should be up and running in the next few weeks.
We’d like to thank all the volunteers who have helped out so far with the ongoing works.

2025 Development
As you may have noticed, phase 1 of our 2025 development upgrades has commenced in the park. The outdoor exercise equipment has been installed next to the playground and Astro. The roof of the bike shed and new shop has commenced and the foundations of the new toilets and referees room has also started. We look forward to completing these upgrades throughout the year to bring the standard of our club facilities up to an even higher level. We’d like to thank all the volunteers who have helped out so far with the ongoing works.
Due to storm damage last weekend some of the walking track lights are temporarily off. We hope to have this issue sorted shortly.

Walking Football
Calling all over 35s (….there’s no upper limit!)
Anyone that witnessed the Centenary celebration game might remember that the Walking Gaelic Football is an extremely entertaining game to be enjoyed by everyone.
With enough interest we are hoping to get the game up and running for a couple of months. If there is interest, we might be able to run it for 2 nights to allow more flexibility, as it will be difficult to pinpoint a time/day that suits all.
This is for everyone (male and female) over the age of 35, who might be interested in a fun activity.

Best of luck to Daragh Deegan, Mark Loddick and Kevin Boland where are the Rosemount representatives on the panel. The game is to be shown on Clubbr TV also. Well done to Moate Community School U16 ladies team who won the Leinster Championship earlier this week. Special mention to local girls Alex, Maria and Lily. Congratulations to all involved.
2025 Development
As you may have noticed, phase 1 of our 2025 development upgrades has commenced in the park. The outdoor exercise equipment has been installed next to the playground and Astro. The roof of the bike shed and new shop has commenced and the foundations of the new toilets and referees room has also started. We look forward to completing these upgrades throughout the year to bring the standard of our club facilities up to an even higher level. We’d like to thank all the volunteers who have helped out so far with the ongoing works.
We are also grateful to all those who continue to play the lotto, support our 50/50 draw and bought tickets for the Christmas draw which in turn helps fund the ongoing upgrades and run the club.

Coverage of Na Fianna vs Sarsfield in the All-Ireland Club Senior Hurling Final will be shown on the big screen in the Community Centre in Rosemount from 1.30pm on Sunday, 19th January followed by the Errigal Ciarán vs Cuala All-Ireland Club Senior Football Championship Final at 3.30pm.

The Social Initiative have organised a get together in the Hall on the 13th of December to celebrate the multiple awards won during the year. As a part of the Social weekend, Rosemount GAA are all having a Club night on the 14th of December, which will also take place in the hall. Dons Bar Moate will also have a bar in the hall on both nights. All club members, coaches, parents, supporters and players are invited to end our Centenary year on a high.

In an highly entertaining game that had plenty of goals , black cards and some exceptional scores for neutral viewers who braved the cold wet weather tonight in Castledaly.
CillÓige GAA took an early lead in the first half with an early goal before Killucan fought back adding 3 goals before the break to take a lead of 6 points into half time.
Cill Óige came back in the second half and gave an impressive performance with two late goals and a point to bring the deficit to the minimum.
Unfortunately the final whistle sounded moments later and Killucan take the win.
For CillÓige GAA there were stand out performances from Oisin Egan in defence and from Evan Daly up in the forward line who was near impossible to mark.
Players and management should be extremely proud to put in a such a performance after a hard year of football.

We received confirmation that our grant application for new LED Pitch lighting received approval for €115,402. This is excellent news as we continue to develop and improve our facilities. Thanks to everyone who worked hard on the application.

GO Games
Thanks for a great turnout last weekend as always, some great football on display and great progress on the skills. The players have really come on this year and that is all thanks to the commitment of the children and parents.
We always had great numbers for training and never missed a Go Games due to lack of numbers, so well done to all.
Thanks to Mike, Helena, Brenda, Enda, John and Kevin. It’s great to have such committed trainers. It makes it all the easier.

Well that’s a wrap . What a year for our U10 boys. They’ve come on leaps and bounds since their first training session last March. The skill, determination and positive attitude these lads have shown all year was second to none.
This weekend was no different when they put on a superb exhibition of football against Kilbeggan and Kinnegad, battling hard for every ball until the final whistle. The last Rosemount match (for now) for 5 of our lads moving on – as the other 5 lads capably step up to lead the u12s next season. All the best lads.
As the year comes to an end a word of thanks to our coaching team of Ronan , Carol and the on-call Brendan. And Shay, who was always there to lend a hand. Thanks to the parents and supporters for getting the kids there and keeping their spirits up. Thanks to the girls for making teas and Terence for the sound.
More details to follow on our end of year trip. As far as the football goes it’s in your own hands until next March. Keep practicing lads .

Intermediate Championship
Our year came to an end in Cusack Park last weekend, with Milltown booking their place in the county final after a 6 point win. We are all very proud of the lads and how they performed this year, despite injury setbacks and emigration they battled their way to a county semi-final. Well done to all members of the panel and the management team.

MJS Builds Football U14 Division 3 Semi Final
Cill Óige U14s travelled to Killucan for their Division 3 semi final on Friday evening.
Unfortunately, it was not to be our night as the home side came away the victory. A strong crossfield breeze made shooting difficult for both sets of players during the match.
Cill Óige had the best of the early exchanges but Killucan gradually got on top to lead at half time. The home side extended their lead in the second half before Cill Óige staged a brave late rally to narrow the deficit.
Hard luck to the Cill Óige players and well done to the lads on their efforts this season. Many thanks to all the loyal Cill Óige supporters who cheer on the players in every match.

Not to be our night in Castledaly as CillÓigeGAA found themselves up against a strong and determined Delvin St. Paul’s.
The visitors got off to a good start and Cill Óige had to battle for a foothold in the match.
After 20 minutes Jacob Bourke added another goal for his team and brought the home side back into the game . Both teams saw out the first half to a close there was only a couple of points separating the teams.
After the break Cill Óige proved the stronger team and narrowed the gap to a single score.
With Cill Óige pushing forward for a winner and thought they had d9ne enough to won a valuable free kick.
The referee judged the freekick to Delvin/St.Paul’s instead and hit back on the counter to finish the game with a breakaway goal and secured a 4 point win.
Despite the conditions both teams provided high energy entertainment.
Well done to the CillOige
lads and trainers for a great year and reaching this semifinal stage.
The experience will prove valuable from this great bunch of players.

Final Score from Kinnegad – Rosemount 1.10 Milltown 0.13
A toughly fought match that resulted in a draw means that we finished level on points with Garrycastle and Milltown at the top of the table, however due in a lower score difference we have ended up third and a place in the quarter-finals. The lads put in a mighty performance on the day and a draw was probably a fair result.

Results
Last Saturday our lads cemented their place in the knock out stages of the championship with an 8 point win over Miltownpass. With a few lads out through injury and losing lads to emigration, it was brilliant to see that the lads on the field gave everything for the jersey and came out with a great win. Deccy and Davy Tone rolled backed the years while Cillian Lawlor and Matty Cox took their chances in front of the goals to complete the win. Best of luck to another one of our long-serving players Padraig Nestor who’s emigrating to Austrailia with his girlfriend. Padraig has been an integral part of our Senior team for the last 6/7 years and his pace and strength on the ball was always on show with his darting runs from the half back line. Cill Óige U12 boys competed in the U12 Finals Weekend on Monday evening in Cusack Park. We had a great win against a very strong and well organised Ballycomoyle team. Our boys played brilliantly throughout with excellent defending and lots of really well taken scores. All of our players took advantage of the chance to play in the county grounds and put in fantastic performances. Congratulations to the county minor committee and all the officials, organisers and helpers on a really well organised weekend, the young players will remember it for a long time to come. Well done to the Cill Óige U14 boys who recorded a victory against St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge in Rosemount on Friday evening.
The strong breeze made it difficult for both sides but the players produced a entertaining match from start to finish.
The teams were evenly matched throughout the game but the Cill Óige lads pulled away in the closing stages to earn the points.
Thanks to St. Mary’s for a sporting match.
This match completes the league campaign for Cill Óige and the players can be proud of how they have played in their 7 matches over the last couple of months. Well done to all the squad and as always many thanks to the loyal Cill Óige who support the lads in all their matches.

Cill Óige
Cill Óige U12 team played the final game Round 9 in Phase 1 of the League in Castledaly Monday night.
Lilliput Gaels went in ahead after a competitive and well matched first half, with their two goals being the difference.
A very lively start from Cill Óige in the second half saw them score some fine points to narrow the gap and take the lead.
Excellent play and hard work in defence ensured that Lilliput had few scoring chances as CillÓige produced some fantastic passages of play to move the ball from defence to attack.
Cill Óige scored a couple of well worked goals during this period and with several fine points scored they secured their win.
Thanks very much to Lilliput Gaels for a great game & our own supporters for cheering us on all throughout this phase of the league.
Congratulations to Cill Óige on a very well deserved win.

Well done to the Cill Óige U14 team on an excellent team performance in their latest league match on Wednesday against Garrycastle.
The match was played in perfect conditions in Rosemount. The visitors started well and scored a couple of early points but the home side soon started to gel and went into the half time break with a 5 point lead.
The second half saw the teams trade scores but well worked goals from Cill Óige as well as some outstanding blocking ensured that the home side were the deserving victors when the final whistle sounded.

Cill Óige U16 had a great win over St. Michaels in Castledaly this Monday evening having raced into an early 3-02 to 0-2 lead after ten minutes.
It was well balanced for the rest of the half with some excellent scores on display from both teams with Cill Óige went in 3-8 to 0-7 ahead at half-time.
The second half sprung to life with St. Michaels scoring a goal to narrow the gap but Cill Óige persisted and through some excellent team moves finished with a flurry adding two more goals to secure a great win.

The 4th & 5th of May 2024 will be forever remembered and a fantastic weekend, where Rosemount folk near and far came together to celebrate the centenary of the founding of our fantastic little club. Centenary 50/50 Draw

Our lads played Caulry in the Division 2 league last Saturday evening. Caulry got off to the better start taking a 1-04 to no score lead after 10 minutes. Rosemount kept plugging away with some fine scores from Boidu, Decy and a well taking goal form Padraig Geoghegan. In the 2nd half, Conor McCormack kicked some lovely scores for the home team to put Caulry well ahead, but a couple of fines scores from Decy and a well taken goal from Ben Cox kept us in the game. With the clock ticking down, county players Senan Baker & Conor McCormack added a number of points, before Boidu reduced the deficit with a well taken goal. Final Score – Caulry 2-16 Rosemount 3-09.
Our juniors played Miltownpass in the Park on Thursday afternoon. In a close game, Rosemount came out on top to take their first win in the Division 4 league of the year.
100 Year Celebration
Our 100 year celebration takes place in 2 weeks time. It is currently sold out. We are all looking forward to what should be a very enjoyable weekend.

May 4th; 2pm – 6pm Fun Day for Kids
Lots of fun events planned for the day, including the following, 10 foot inflatable dart board & Penalty Shootout, Fun Races (3 legged race, wheelbarrow race, wellie Race, wife carrying race etc) giant jenga, tug of war, guess the photos, face painting, obstacle course, underage matches etc. There will also be a cake sale, an ice cream van and a BBQ from 4.30 to 6.
May 4th; 8pm – 10pm Trad Session (Local Musicians)
Sunday 5th May 11am – 4pm
11am Mass followed by walk to Cnoc Aiste (transport provided for anyone who cannot climb the hill) wearing Rosemount colours (picture to be taken on top of hill) and back to community centre where there will be refreshments and time to view our 100 years of Rosemount memorabilia.
Sunday 5th May 7pm – Late
The main Centenary Celebration on the Sunday night in the Marquee with a 3 course meal followed by live music by the Secrets & a DJ. Fully stocked bar on the night.

Div 4 League Round 4 vs Shandonagh – Thursday 4th April March at 7.00pm in Shandonagh.
Div 2 League Round 2 vs Milltown – Saturday, 6th April at 6.00 pm in Rosemount.

Westmeath
Well to Andy, John and the Westmeath Footballers who won the Division 3 league final on Sunday. They now go on to play Wicklow in the first round of the championship next Sunday in Portlaoise.
David O Reilly scored 1-3 for Westmeath U20 hurlers on Saturday as they drew against Meath. Adam Keane played corner back against Dublin in first round of the U20 championship, while Jack Nally was part of the minor team which came out second best against Louth in the first round of the minor championship. Well done lads.

In Division 2, the lads travelled to Rochfortbridge to take on St Marys in round 3 of the league. With lovely scores from Boidu, Ben Cox & Seany Conlon and Deccy reliant with the frees, it ended with a good win for the Black and Ambers, Rosemount 1.16 Shamrocks 0.13. On Sunday, Our juniors came out second best against Garycastle in the Div 4 league, with a final score of Garycastle 6.9, Rosemount 2.12.

Last weekend marked our first outing in our Centenary jerseys. The lads travelled to Springfield to take on Mullingar Shamrocks in the Division 2 league. With Davy Tone, Matty Cox, Seany Conlon and Deccy prominent on the day, it ended with a good win for the Black and Ambers, Rosemount 4.12 Shamrocks 0.05. Saturday was a different story in the Div 4 league, with a strong win for Kinnegad.

Working on Fundamental’s whilst developing a fun environment for all. All activities will take place in the Community Hall in Rosemount, under the supervision of trained and vetted Coaches. Rosemount Amateur Drama will be back on stage in March 2024 in Tuar Ard Arts Centre Moate.
It is a two act comedy called Nobody’s Talking to Me set in Ireland in the 1960s. The play is written by Irish playwright Tommy Marren who wrote the incredibly successful It’s The Real McCoy. We will announce the cast of 4 women and 4 men in the coming days!

We’d like to wish Darragh Healy & Cathal Daly the best of luck on their travels as they head off to Canada and Australia respectively. The two lads have always given their all in the black and amber jersey and will be missed. There will always be a jersey there for ye if ye ever get homesick. We hope Karen & Ash will keep ye on the straight and narrow too. Best of luck lads.
