Gaa: Our U20s campaign kicked off last Friday night in Moate , where we took on the home side. Both sides exchanged scores early on, with scores from Dan Heavin, Ben Cox & Kevin Stone. Moate rallied with a few points of their own to leave just the bare minimum between the sides at half time. Following some positional changes at half time , the lads upped the anti in the second half and as the game went on , we took control . Scores from Aaron Nugent , and a fine point from Matthew Cox put us 4 points clear , and as Moate pushed forward we countered and a fine move was finished to the net by Ben Cox as the game entered the final five minutes. Well done lads on a good win , we now play Coralstown Kinnegad in the quarter final . Final Score was Castledaly / Rosemount 2.15 to Moate’s 0.11.
Best of luck to current senior player Israel IIunga who plays with the Underdogs this weekend vs Mayo. Izzy starts at full back.

Gaa: We took The Downs in the Quarter Final of the Senior Championship last Saturday evening in Cusack Park. Played in perfect conditions , we began the game taking a one point to no score lead. From then on , we struggled for the remainder of the first half and The Downs took over then kicking some long range points as well as hitting two goals. The lads kept plugging away , and two fine points from Deccie Mullen clawed back the lead somewhat but it was an uphill battle after that. The lads to their credit emerged the second half and began to try and get themselves back in the game. A penalty and a free from Sean Pettit and a point from Plunkett Maxwell gained us some momentum. Ben Cox then entered the fray and a quick fire 1.01 from play from him left just two points between the teams heading into the last five minutes. Chances came and went for both sides , but ultimately we ran out of time in the end, and The Downs took the win on a score of 2.09 to 2.07. We would like to thank the players and management for there efforts during the year.
Best wishes to Declan Slevin in the Paracyling World Championships next week. Good luck Declan.

Gaa: We took on Shandonagh last Saturday evening in TEG Cusack Park in the final group 2 game in the Senior Football Championship. It was a winner takes all battle with the winner qualifying for the quarter finals. With a lot on the line our lads definitely seized the opportunity and the result in the end, was never in doubt. We started very brightly with a flicked goal from Sean Pettit, followed by points from Sean & Decie Mullen. As the half wore on Shandonagh began to come at us , but our defence was brilliant throughout and tigerish defending kept the Shandonagh attack at bay. We got a crucial score just before half time when we won a penalty which Sean Pettit dispatched to the corner of the net. This left us ahead at half time by 2.06 to 0.05. The second half began with us having the wind behind our backs , so we began to look to get a few scores early. We suffered a set back 5 minutes into the second half when Referee Barry Kelly issued David Malynn a straight red card for a late challenge. To their credit the lads didn’t panic and managed to keep there composure. We conceded a penalty but Carberry saved expertly. We had leaders all over the field. We pushed on to finish strong with goals from Lorcán Daly and Sean Pettit to seal a win by 4.09 to Shandonagh’s 0.08. The win left us top of our group , and undefeated in the 5 matches. We now qualify for the quarter finals of the senior championship for the first time in over 20 years. Special mention to Ben O’Brien & Ciaran Maxwell who made their debuts at senior level having come on as substitutes. Well done to all the panel of players and to the management, and back room team. Onwards we go to the quarter finals where be meet The Downs in 3 weeks times. Commiserations to Shandonagh who had a good campaign overall on their first year at senior level.Stott Pilates classes commence on Wednesday the 4th September in Rosemount Community Centre. TEG Cusack Park was the venue for our latest championship game where we took on Killucan. It’s been an extremely hectic schedule for the lads over the past four weeks, and as we enter the business end of the championship it is very much all to play for with one game to go. Conditions were very poor monsoon like forcing both teams into a lot of handling errors. That being said both teams went all out for the two points on offer. Killucan started the game the brightest taking a two point lead. Sean Pettit then scored a fortuitous goal from a free kick to get us back in the game. We were struggling with our handing in particular, but we kept plugging away with scores from David Tone and Sean Pettit. Killucan then struck two goals in quick succession, and as we headed to half time we trailed by four points – 2.03 to 1.02. The conditions didn’t improve the second half but the performance from the lads did. Within five minutes of the second half David Tone had the ball in the net to get it back to a one point game. Killucan then struck straight back with a goal of there own to leave it 3.05 to 2.03 with twenty minutes remaining. From here on we took over and we began to exert our influence on the game. A good score from Sean Pettit followed by good scores from Deccie Mullen got us back level with time up. We had two chances to sneak a win but they didn’t materialize and we held on for a draw. It is all to play for with one game remaining. We sit top of group 2 and we play Shandonagh next weekend and it’s all on the line with the winner qualifying for the quarter finals. Best wishes to Israel Ilunga who sustained an injury during Saturday’s game.
Senior Football Championship Fixture: We take on Shandonagh this Saturday at 7pm in TEG Cusack Park. This is a must win game for the lads in order to qualify out of the group – all support appreciated.5th Aug

New Jackpot €8,000We travelled to Moate last Saturday night to take on Castledaly in the SFC. Heavy rain an hour before throw in made conditions extremely difficult. To their credit both sides left it all in the field in what was a hugely physical battle over the hour. We started to settle early and points from Sean Pettit and David Tone saw us take the lead. The game was slow to get going, again with playing conditions and a doggid Castledaly side making it very difficult for us to break them down. Castledaly responded with a few scores they got from frees, which was keeping them in the game. As half time approached a well worked move resulted in David Tone finishing to the back of the net. This left us one point ahead at half time. We started the second half at a frantic pace, with scores from Theo Watts and Ben Cox. Castledaly kept in touch, both sides introduced subs and went all out for the final ten minutes. We were a point ahead with normal time up when Plunkett Maxwell kicked a long range point from play to seal the win for us by two points. This leaves us with six points and top of the table with two games remaining. Final score: Rosemount 1.11, Castledaly 0.12. Well done lads on a very gutsy performance.
Condolences: The club were saddened to hear of the death of Larry Dunican and Lily Kelly in the past ten days. Lilly was Rosemount through and through , and a true lady. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the Kelly family. Larry Dunican RIP. Larry was a hugely popular figure in the parish of Rosemount, and he will be sadly missed. We wish to offer our condolences to both the Kelly & Dunican families.

Gaa: We travelled to Tang last Wednesday evening to take on Coralstown/Kinnegad in the SFC. After opening round wins , both teams were looking to make it two wins from two. The game was slow to get going, and early on our lads were finding it difficult to break down an ultra defensive Kinnegad side. We got on the score board courtesy of Deccie Mullen and Sean Pettit. Kinnegad replied immediately with a score of there own , and it was tit for tat, as both sides headed to half time tied at 5 points each. The second half ebbed and flowed, and as the game went on we took control of the game. Ben Cox entered the fray , as did David McCormack and both had instant impacts. A point from play from Ben Cox, and Sean Pettit got us in front , and then we struck for the all important goal , scored by Ben Cox after being set up by Enda Boland. This capped a win by 6 points and a fine performance by the lads.
Final score: Rosemount 1:10 Coralstown/Kinnegad 0:07

Gaa: Round 2 of Junior B Football Championship took place last Tuesday evening when we welcomed Milltownpass to the park. Having played two days earlierin the Senior Championship, it was a quick turn around for some players, which seems to be the theme of this year championship. Regardless of this, both sides served up an entertaining game with very little separating the sides over the course of the game. We got the perfect start , as Ben Cox rattled a goal inside the opening two minutes. Milltownpass responded with a couple of scores . Our lads kept in touch and we entered the half time break down by two points. It was tit for tat in the second half. Cathal Byrne, Padraig Geoghegan we’re driving forward at every chance , while Ben Cox , Richie O’Brien and Kieran Hanevy we’re playing well in the forward like. As the game entered the final few minutes we were three points down , two frees from Ben Cox got us back to a point behind but we couldn’t find an equalizing score , and Milltownpass held on for a one point win.Fixture: SFC vs Coralstown Kinnegad this Wednesday, July 24th . Throw in is at 6.45pm in Tang. All support appreciated.

Gaa: Our Seniors kicked off there campaign in the SFC last Sunday evening where we took on St Mary’s Rochfortbridge In a bright and sunny TEG Cusack Park. First round games are always important so the lads were keen to get the win. Both sides traded points early on , in what was a perfect evening for football . Both sides looked play an attacking game. David Tone kicked early scores to get us in front , this was followed by a Sean Pettit point. As the game entered half time, the sides went with our lads just in front by 0.11 to St Mary’s 1.06. It was all to play for. The Second half was played at a frantic pace with St Mary’s coming at us looking to take the lead. We had leaders all over his field in important stages when the game entered the melting pot. Theo Watts was working up and down the field, Izzy, Boidu, Enda, and Plunkett were all winning vital possessions around the midfield area. A well taken Lorcan Daly goal after a great move got us a few points ahead and we never looked back. We went on to seal the win on a score of 1.14 to 1.08. Well done lads on a good win. We now play Coralstown Kinnegad in the second round in a week and a half’s time. Details TBC.
Please be aware that the Social Initiative Stand is in the process of being built in the park. With this in mind, we are asking all members and especially parents to be extra vigilant when down in the park for the next few weeks while the construction work is in progress.

New Jackpot €7,600It was a disappointing weekend on the results front last weekend for our senior and junior team. We took on Garrycastle last Friday night in the Div 1 league final. Our lads never got going in the game , and Garrycastle dominated from start to finish to win out in the end. Our junior team kicked off there junior b championship last Sunday morning vs Mullingar Shamrocks. After a slow start, our lads gradually got into the game and having produced a strong second we just came up short in the end , with Mullingar taking the win by one point.

New Jackpot €7,200Our final game in this years ACFL Div 1 campaign took place last Sunday morning away to Mullingar Shamrocks. With heavy rain before the match making conditions sloppy , both teams adapted well and served up an entertaining encounter over the hour. Mullingar started the brightest and took a two point lead. Our lads responded well with good scores from Deccie Mullen & David Tone. Two goals then followed, Firstly Donal O’Donoghue fisted the ball to the net for Mullingar half way through the first half. Shane Tone then drove up the field to finish a fine move to the net leaving it all square at half time at 1.05 apiece. A cagey second half followed which both sides trading points. It was obvious that this game would go down to the wire and that it did. Deccie Mullen kicked three frees for us , but Mullingar kept themselves in the game with some scores from frees themselves. As the game entered the final few minutes, both sides were going for the win. David Tone stepped to kick a fine point from play off his left foot, and one final free from Deccie Mullen got us over the line. The final score was Rosemount 1.10, to Mullingar’s 1.09. Well done lads on a good win. We now have the league final to look forward to vs Garrycastle, details to be confirmed at a later date.

We played Tang last Saturday night in the Div 1 league. A win would see us one step closer to a Senior Division 1 league final for the first time since 1996. Our lads deservedly ran winners in the end, after a game very much of two halves. We started very strong dominating the opening exchanges, with scores from Ben Cox, David Tone, Davey Malynn & Darragh Healy. Tang responded with a few scores from frees, as we headed into half time. The second half saw Tang starting the brightest , despite being down at half time , they rallied in the second half. Our lads never panicked and our senior players in particular stood up when it mattered. Enda Boland was outstanding at centre forward winning a couple of important possessions, Davey Tone kicked a fantastic point from play , and Deccie Mullen slotted a huge free kick from outside the 45 with five minutes to go. Tang pushed and pushed but they couldn’t break through to get the equalizing score. Referee Damien Maher sounded the full time whistle, and with that we ran out two point winners on a score line of 2.14 to Tang’s 1.15. Well done lads on a great win. We wish Tang the best of luck for the rest of the year in there intermediate championship campaign, and also thank referee Damien Maher and his umpires for officiating.

Gaa: We headed to The Downs last Fri night to take on the home side in the ACFL Div 1. The lads were undefeated to date with four wins and a draw, so they were keen to build on this. It was a wet and bitterly cold night, but the lads kept our traveling support in good spirits with a fine team performance in tricky conditions. Playing into a very stiff breeze in the first half, we were working the ball very well and creating some good scoring chances. Two points from Sean Pettit from frees kept us in the game , and we got a vital score just on the stroke of half time when a series of hand passes led to Enda Boland bearing down on goal, and with that he rifled the ball to the net, to give us the lead at half time 1.04 to 0.04. We began to get into our groove in the opening ten minutes of the second half, and took control of the game. Andy McCormack was playing a captains role leading by example in the full back line along side Cathal Daly. Theo Watts and Deccie Mullen we’re starting to dominate in midfield, and the ever hard working Enda Boland and Plunkett Maxwell were outstanding in the half forward line. Points from Sean Pettit, David Tone, and a fantastic side line kick from Deccie Mullen sealed the win on a score of 1.14 to The Downs 0.09.

New Jackpot €6,400It was another busy weekend in league action. On Saturday last we travelled to Ballinagore to take on the home side in the Div 4 league. A win would see us pushed up the standings in the table , and we got the perfect start. David Fox was on fire , shoring very well in the forward line , and he kicked some excellent points in the first half taking the game to Ballinagore. As the half wore on both sides traded points , Damien Boland drove up the field from corner back to kick a fine point off his left foot. As half time approached, Ballinagore got the final point of the half to leave them one point up at half time. Ballinagore started the brightest in the second half , but our lads slowly got a foothold in the game with Paidi Keenan , Matty Farrell, Ciaran Maxwell & Liam O’Neill getting on a lot of ball around the middle. Ballinagore struck for a goal and with ten minutes to go we were two points down. The bench was emptied by the management, with Peter Elliffe, Lorcan Daly, Cathal Daly , Ben Cox & Damien Carroll entering the fray. From here on in, we took over the last ten minutes. Scores from David Fox , & Cathal Daly got us back level , with Lorcan Daly stepping up to kick the winning point to give us the win by 1.13 to Ballinagore’s 1.12. Well done lads. ACFL Div 1: We welcomed Tyrellspass to the park on a wet and cold morning last Sunday. Our lads were hoping to keep there good run going in the league going. We started slowly with playing conditions very tough and with Tyrellspass setting up ultra defensive , we were finding it difficult to break our way through. Eventually the scores started to come with good scores from Sean Pettit and Boidu Sayeh. A fortitudes goal by lorcan Daly got us back in the game and as both sides headed for the dressing rooms at half time, we were two points up. Playing with the breeze in the second half our lads took over the game, driving forward at every chance with Plunkett Maxwell, Theo Watts, Declan Mullen, Enda Boland , Boidu Sayeh, Damien Carroll & Padraig Nestor picking up a lot of ball in attacking positions from midfield. Points by Sean Pettit , Ben Cox, Lorcan Daly, David Fox and a Sean Pettit goal sealed the win for us on a score of: Rosemount 2.13, Tyrellspass 2.03. Well done lads on a great win. We would like to thank Niall Ward and his umpires for officiating the game , and we wish a speedy recovery to the Tyrellspass player who suffered an injury in the second half. Also, a sincere thanks to all those who donated kindly to our collection for the Lee Wallace fundraiser. In total €1,430 by raised by both clubs at the gate, a fantastic achievement.

We took on Tyrellspass last Friday night in the ACFL Div 4. The game was played under lights in the fabulous facilities of Athlone I.T. Both teams traded points early on, and what was an evenly contested opening half both sides went into half time level on a score of 1.02 to 0.05. The second half was very much a tetchy affair at times with both teams playing on the edge for. A fine score from Liam O’Neill got us in front , with ten minutes to go , only for Tyrellspass to strike for a goal after a well worked move. As we headed into the last five mins , a free from David Fox left the bare minimum in it. The lads really dig deep as the game entered injury time, and with that David Malynn stepped up to kick the equalizing point. We still had our chances to win it , but in the end a draw was probably a fair result. Final score Rosemount 1.09, Tyrellspass 1.09. Well done lads.

Gaa: Lakepoint Park was the place to be last Friday night as we travelled to take on St Lomans in the latest round in the Div 1 ACFL. Having taken maximum points from there opening three games our lads were keen to continue there good run in the league. Whilst playing St Lomans is never an easy task , we travelled in high spirits. A slow start to the game allowed St Lomans to take the initiative, and they quickly got the scoreboard moving with some fine passing and support play. We eventually got on the scoreboard with a point by Sean Pettit, which was quickly followed by another score from a free. At half time we went in three points down with a huge turnaround to follow in the second half. The lads started to up the anti in the second half , points by Ben Cox, Sean Pettit and David Tone got us back in the game. A goal after a mistake by the St Lomans goal keeper handed us a lifeline as we began to exert our influence on the game. As we approached injury time, we were still one point down and chasing the equalizing score. Andy McCormack broke out of defense and drove forward. A long ball in from Shane Tone, was gathered by Plunkett Maxwell who laid it off to Ben Cox who had the final say in the match to tie up the game with time up. With that , the final whistle went and a point was gained. While the lads would have been disappointed with there first half display , the second half was very much a different showing, with great effort and fight been shown all over the field, and every ball being contested aggressively by the lads. They kept going right to the bitter end, and got the reward for there efforts. Final score was Rosemount 1.09, St Lomans 0.12.
Fixture: ACFL Div 4 vs Tyrellspass this Friday night the 5th of April at 8pm. The game will be played under lights in Athlone I.T. All support appreciated.

Like last weekend both our Div 1 and Div 4 teams were out in action in the leagues. On Friday night last we travelled to Moate to take on the home side in round 2 of the ACFL Div 4. On what turned out to be a wet and very windy night, it made playing conditions very difficult. To be fair both both teams served up an entertaining contest for the supporters who braved the elements. A quick start by our lads got us into a two point lead with a fine long range score from Ben Cox the pick of them . Moate played against the wind in the opening half and gradually began to get them selves into the game . An even first half concluded with both sides level 0.05 0.05 each. Both teams up the anti in the second half , trading score after score . Two fine scores from Lorcan Daly paved the way for a right finish . In the end Moate took there chances when they came heading down the home straight and held on for the win by one point 0.10 to 0.09.
On Sunday morning last years intermediate champions Shandonagh came to the park for round 2 of the ACFL Div 1. Again the weather caused havoc with snow appearing before kick off , but this did not deter our lads in the slightest and they put in an exceptional 60 minutes performance. Some quick fire points by David Tone, Sean Pettit, Theo Watts, and a fortuitous goal saw us take a commanding lead and we never looked back from there on in. We went in at half time 7 points up , and with the wind at our backs we killed the game off in the second half. Further points by Sean Pettit and a well finished goal by Ben Cox sealed the win. Final score Rosemount 2.12 to Shandonagh’s 0.05.
