Cill Oige Boys

Cill Óige U12 Boys had a great win in Castledaly last Friday against Milltownpass. There were strong performances all over the field on a lovely sunny evening. Well done to all the players on what was a great performance, built on hard work with some outstanding scores. Great to see all the players working so well for each other

Cill Óige U14 – Cill Óige 4-5 Garrycastle 1-5

Well done to the Cill Óige U14 team on an excellent team performance in their latest league match on Wednesday against Garrycastle.

The match was played in perfect conditions in Rosemount. The visitors started well and scored a couple of early points but the home side soon started to gel and went into the half time break with a 5 point lead.

The second half saw the teams trade scores but well worked goals from Cill Óige as well as some outstanding blocking ensured that the home side were the deserving victors when the final whistle sounded.

Div 2 U16 Cill Òige 5-14 St Michael’s 1-07.

Cill Óige U16 had a great win over St. Michaels in Castledaly this Monday evening having raced into an early 3-02 to 0-2 lead after ten minutes.

It was well balanced for the rest of the half with some excellent scores on display from both teams with Cill Óige went in 3-8 to 0-7 ahead at half-time.

The second half sprung to life with St. Michaels scoring a goal to narrow the gap but Cill Óige persisted and through some excellent team moves finished with a flurry adding two more goals to secure a great win.

**Centenary Celebration**

The 4th & 5th of May 2024 will be forever remembered and a fantastic weekend, where Rosemount folk near and far came together to celebrate the centenary of the founding of our fantastic little club. In what was a wonderful weekend, we hope all attendees for both the fun day, the hill climb and the Centenary Celebration night had an enjoyable time and we thank you for your presence over the weekend.  We would also like to thanks all volunteers who helped out in the last few weeks, to make the weekend what it was.

Centenary Celebration Interviews.

As a part of the Centenary Celebrations of our Club, we also carried out a number of interviews with a some club stalwarts both past & present. The first 4 interviews are on Facebook. Fixtures this week: ACFL Div 4 Round 7 Rosemount vs The Downs  in The Downs ACFL

Div 2 Round 7 Rosemount vs Ballymore, Friday, May 3rd at 7pm in Ballymore.

Results – The ACFL Div 4 Round 7 match vs The Downs ended in a draw, with The Downs scoring a lsst minute goal to tie the game.

Cill Oige Boys

Wednesday 1st May. U14 R4. Cill Oige v Garrycastle. Venue Rosemount Time 19:00

Friday 3rd May. U18 R4. Cill Oige v Multyfarnham. Venue Rosemount. Time 19:00

Westmeath

Well done to David O Reilly who was part of the U20 & Senior hurlers who played championship at the weekend. Adam Keane also played for the U20 footballers in the Andrew Cordon Cup Final, where Westmeath bet Longford.

**Centenary Celebration**

In preparation for our Centenary Celebrations this weekend, please put up as much bunting and flags as possible to show how proud we are of 100 years of Rosemount GAA. Reminder of the Family Fun Day at 2pm on Saturday. Limited car parking available at front of hall, please follow stewards instructions. Commerative Book also available on the day for €10. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Plan as follows;

Sunday

  • Sunday, May 5th – Mass at 11am in St Thomas’s Church followed by walk to the Hill. Please wear your Rosemount colours.
  • Doors open Sunday evening for our main event at 6.30pm (ticket holders only)
  • Please be seated at 7.15pm as dinner served at 7.30pm sharp.
  • Please note people are seated according to table plan.
  • Limited parking available, we would encourage people to car pool, please follow parking stewards instructions.

Weekly Notes – 21st April 2023

Intermediate Footballers

Our lads played Caulry in the Division 2 league last Saturday evening. Caulry got off to the better start taking a 1-04 to no score lead after 10 minutes. Rosemount kept plugging away with some fine scores from Boidu, Decy and a well taking goal form Padraig Geoghegan. In the 2nd half, Conor McCormack kicked some lovely scores for the home team to put Caulry well ahead, but a couple of fines scores from Decy and a well taken goal from Ben Cox kept us in the game. With the clock ticking down, county players Senan Baker & Conor McCormack added a number of points, before Boidu reduced the deficit with a well taken goal. Final Score – Caulry 2-16 Rosemount 3-09.

Our juniors played Miltownpass in the Park on Thursday afternoon.  In a close game, Rosemount came out on top to take their first win in the Division 4 league of the year.

100 Year Celebration 

Our 100 year celebration takes place in 2 weeks time. It is currently sold out. We are all looking forward to what should be a very enjoyable weekend.

Memorabilia – Old Jerseys

If you have any old jerseys form the 1940s/50s/60s/70s or early 90s hiding in the attic, can you please contact the gaa phone  (0872064827), we would love to have these all on show on the morning of the 100 year celebration.

April 50/50 Draw

We will be moving the 50/50 draw for the month of April to the 4th of May, as a part of our 100 year weekend celebration. There will be a guaranteed prize of €1000. The draw will take place a 8pm in the Hall.

100 Year Celebration of Rosemount GAA

Date : Saturday & Sunday, May 4th/5th, 2024 Venue : Fr O Growney Park, Rosemount

May 4th; 2pm – 6pm Fun Day for Kids

Lots of fun events planned for the day, including the following, 10 foot inflatable dart board & Penalty Shootout, Fun Races (3 legged race, wheelbarrow race, wellie Race, wife carrying race etc) giant jenga, tug of war, guess the photos, face painting, obstacle course, underage matches etc. There will also be a cake sale, an ice cream van and a BBQ from 4.30 to 6.

Sunday 5th May 11am – 4pm

11am Mass followed by walk to Cnoc Aiste (transport provided for anyone who cannot climb the hill) wearing Rosemount colours (picture to be taken on top of hill) and back to community centre where there will be refreshments and time to view our 100 years of Rosemount memorabilia.

Sunday 5th May 7pm – Late

The main Centenary Celebration on the Sunday night in the Marquee with a 3 course meal followed by live music by the Secrets & a DJ. Fully stocked bar on the night.

Well to Andy, John and the Westmeath Footballers who won the Division 3 league final on Sunday. They now go on to play Wicklow in the first round of the championship next Sunday in Portlaoise.

David O Reilly scored 1-3 for Westmeath U20 hurlers on Saturday as they drew against Meath. Adam Keane played corner back against Dublin in first round of the U20 championship, while Jack Nally was part of the minor team which came out second best against Louth in the first round of the minor championship. St Patricks Day

Well done to all involved in our St Patricks Day Parade float. We had huge numbers involved and the black an amber well represented. Rosemount GAA also won the ‘Most Colourful Float’ prize, judged by the Moate St Patricks Day Parade committee. Photos of the group are up on our socials. Well done all.

Happy St Patricks Weekend to all. This year, as a part of our 100 years celebration, the club are entering the Moate St. Patricks day Parade. We would encourage all kids (and parents) to join us on the day wearing the club colours with pride. Please meet at the Business College at 12.30pm.

Weekly Notes – 10th March 2023

Intermediate Footballers

In Division 2, the lads travelled to Rochfortbridge to take on St Marys in round 3 of the league. With lovely scores from Boidu, Ben Cox & Seany Conlon and Deccy reliant with the frees, it ended with a good win for the Black and Ambers, Rosemount 1.16 Shamrocks 0.13. On Sunday, Our juniors came out second best against Garycastle in the Div 4 league, with a final score of Garycastle 6.9, Rosemount 2.12.

Weekly Notes – 2nd March 2023

Intermediate Footballers

Last weekend marked our first outing in our Centenary jerseys. The lads travelled to Springfield to take on Mullingar Shamrocks in the Division 2 league. With Davy Tone, Matty Cox, Seany Conlon and Deccy prominent on the day, it ended with a good win for the Black and Ambers, Rosemount 4.12 Shamrocks 0.05. Saturday was a different story in the Div 4 league, with a strong win for Kinnegad.

Thanks to all who attended the Rosemount GAA & LGFA U4 to U10 Information evening last Wednesday. As it stands, all underage training is to kick off on the 10th of March.

We are delighted to announce that Rosemount GAA are launching ‘Rosie Tots’ in the coming weeks. Rosie Tots will cater for kids from 2.5 years to 4 years

Working on Fundamental’s whilst developing a fun environment for all. All activities will take place in the Community Hall in Rosemount, under the supervision of trained and vetted Coaches. Rosemount Amateur Drama will be back on stage in March 2024 in Tuar Ard Arts Centre Moate.

It is a two act comedy called Nobody’s Talking to Me set in Ireland in the 1960s. The play is written by Irish playwright Tommy Marren who wrote the incredibly successful It’s The Real McCoy. We will announce the cast of 4 women and 4 men in the coming days!

We’d like to wish Darragh Healy & Cathal Daly the best of luck on their travels as they head off to Canada and Australia respectively.
